＜目標＞
This course is for people seeking rigorous　intellectual stimulation from their English studies.

The　level is slightly lower than in the advanced Spring &　Fall Advanced course so that curious intermediate level students can try the course.

＜講義概要＞
It is based on my discussion class from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Waseda University.
Every week we will study current affairs which are relevant to life in Japan.
There will be many topics, for example, culture, economics, politics, science, and medicine.
Students can choose the topics they wish to study.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the discussions which are often very lively.
Each class will start with a freespeaking period for students to chat about any topic　they wish, and then we will move on to the main discussion topic.
There is no course textbook; study materials will be lecture notes from respected publications and news sources.
