講座詳細
【学習内容】
This course is for upper-intermediate to advanced level students who would like to further enhance their ability to communicate effectively by challenging authentic, BBC newscasts and other English-only media.
【学習方法】
The class will be structured into three parts. Part one will be an informal discussion in which each student will introduce a brief topic of personal interest. In part two, we will be watching BBC news and reading lengthy newspaper articles, focusing on vocabulary, idioms, and figures of speech, and students will apply critical thinking skills in order to objectively analyze the information. Note: Articles will be posted on the class website. Part three will be devoted to the development of presentation skills including the organization of materials, use of voice, body language and visual aids. Various presentation formats will be introduced. In each class two or three students will make a (5-7 min.) presentation. Follow-up will include Q&A, and constructive criticism as well as whole-class discussion of the topic. Additionally, there may be one debate during the course. In order to actively participate, and fully enjoy these activities over Zoom, a PC will be required for this course. At least one hour will be needed to prepare for class.
【対象者】
