講座詳細

【講座内容】
Artists and intellectuals often try to have an influence on social and political issues. This is a well-known feature of modern life. In these lessons, we will examine the emergence of such public figures during the 18th and 19th centuries (approximately 1714-1914). During each of the first six lessons there will be an overview of one dissident and the issue he wrote about. The last two lessons will be reserved for concluding remarks on dissident intellectuals of the past compared to those of the contemporary period. We will also discuss issues that the students choose to cover in their own concluding remarks during the last session.
