【講座趣旨】
This course will provide students with information and comment on various aspects of Britain. The lecturer will give a lecture on the topic and handouts will be provided. There will also be power point slides from time to time. At the end of each lecture students will be expected to comment on what they have heard or ask questions. The approach is informal and students are encouraged to contribute at any point in the class.

| プロフィール | ロンドン大学で英文学・英語学を学び、ケンブリッジ大学大学院で音声学を学ぶ。来日前は、グラスゴー、エディンバラ、ロンドンにおいて弁論、演劇を教える。劇場やテレビでの俳優活動や、BBCスコットランドでのアナウンサー経験も持つ。1982年に来日し、1984年より明治大学にて教鞭をとる。1993年に明治大学短期大学の助教授、1998年に教授となり、現在は、情報コミュニケーション学部教授として英語を教えている。また、喜劇グループ「ザ・ガイジン」の共同創始者でもあり、NHKラジオ英会話講座で8年間出演者を務めた経験も持つ。その他に、高校や大学の教科書の執筆にも携わる。 |
